Lightpoint400x275Lightpoint Medical, which is developing miniaturized cancer detection tools for robot-assisted surgery platforms, has announced completing an $8 million financing round. New funding from the British Business Bank Future Fund, including follow-on investment, has raised the total raised for the company to $18 million.

FusionRobotics400x275Fusion Robotics, which is developing a spinal robotics and navigation system, has announced the successful completion of a spine procedure using the company’s technology platform. Completed by Dr. Kevin Foley at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., the procedure was a single-level minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MI-TLF), including the placement of pedicle screw fixation guided by the Fusion Robotics system.

OmniVisionCamModule400x275OmniVision Technologies, which develops advanced imaging solutions, announced two new products in the medical imaging space. The OH0TA OVMed medical image sensor quadruples the resolution of its previous sensor, and also breaks the Guinness World Record for “smallest commercially available image sensor.” The second launch is the OVMed OCHTA camera module, which also improves image quality for single-use endoscopy procedures in the smallest parts of the body.

BrainlabLoop X 400x275Germany-based Brainlab has announced reaching two major milestones with the FDA clearance of its Loop-X Mobile Imaging Robot and Cirq, a robotic surgical system. Following on European CE mark approvals last summer, the FDA clearance allows Brainlab to enter U.S. markets with its Cirq robotic alignment module for spine procedures, and Loop-X, a robotic intraoperative imaging device.

CeleraMotionCapitan400x275Celera Motion, which develops precision motion component and sub-system solutions, has announced its Capitan Series to their line of premium performance Ingenia servo drives. The drives are aimed to deliver maximum performance for applications that include surgical robotics, exoskeletons, robotic joints and end effectors, among others.

CeleraMotion AuraSeries400x275Celera Motion, which develops precision motion component and subsystem solutions, has announced the Aura Absolute Chip Encoder Series to its line of precision rotary and linear optical encoders with MicroE technology. Aura uses a short wave-length LED for precise absolute position decoding, Celera said in a statement. An incremental scale track and advanced sensor produce pure sine wave signals, enabling high-resolution interpolation with run speeds greater than 80k rpm.

SENSEI LightpointMedical 400x275Lightpoint Medical, a medical device company developing miniaturized surgical tools for advanced intra-operative cancer detection, has received CE Mark approval for SENSEI, a robotic gamma probe that will be commercially available to European hospital systems.

VELYS solution 400x275The Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies announced that DePuy Synthes has received 501(k) clearance from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for its VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution, designed for use with the ATTUNE Total Knee System and its cleared indications for use.
