InterventionalMicromate400x275Austria’s Interventional Systems has announced that Micromate, a miniature medical robot for percutaneous procedures, has received FDA 510(k) clearance, allowing the robotics company to operate in the U.S. The company said it plans to launch operations throughout the second half of 2021 by launching centers of excellence for robotic-guided interventional procedures, and establishing commercial partnerships with third parties looking for a robot offering to their customers.

The round was co-led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Ally Bridge Group, with the goal of making keyhole surgery accessible to more people worldwide. The funding will be used to increase the global commercialization of CMR’s Versius next-generation surgical robotic system and further develop its digital ecosystem, the company said.
