LeopardImagingGMSL3 400x275Leopard Imaging, which develops embedded cameras, has announced it integrated Analog Devices’ new GMSL3 technology into its embedded vision solutions to support global customers.

Leopard Imaging said it is one of the earliest camera providers to integrate GMSL and GMSL2, and now GMSL3 into its imaging solutions. Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL) serializer and deserializers (SerDes) are high-speed communications integrated circuits (ICs) developed by Analog devices that provide multi-stream support over a single cable.

GMSL2, with a speed of 6 Gbit/sec, has been widely applied in the automotive industry, Leopard Imaging said. GMSL3 has 12 Gbit/sec in its forward channel, and 187 Mbit/sec in reverse channel. The GMSL3 technology supports uncompressed 4K resolution at 90 frames/sec., delivering smooth video streams.

WIth the new interface, Leopard Imaging said its cameras can operate at full MIPI CSI-2/D-PHY v1.2 specifications, as well as integrate three 4K streams to transmit over one Power over Coax (PoC) cable, delivering real-time 3D imaging at a faster speed than the GMSL2 interface.
