IFR MIR 400x275The International Federation of Robotics has reported that the market of professional service robots worldwide has reached $6.7 billion, up 12% compared with 2020. At the same time, sales of new consumer service robots grew 16% to $4.4 billion. The figures are part of the IFR’s World Robotics 2021 report.

Flippy 2 is based on key learnings and feedback from its partner, White Castle, which deployed the original Flippy system in the Chicagoland area in September 2020, and plans to expand to additional locations once the pilot is over.

Since launching a trial run in September, the university said more than 500 deliveries have been completed across the Los Angeles campus.

Flippy Wings is a robotic chicken wing frying solution designed from the ground up for high-volume restaurants. The company is working with Inspire Brands and its Buffalo Wild Wings brand to begin testing Flippy Wings at the company’s Inspire Brands Innovation Center.

The company said this round is the largest round of funding in the service robot field. The funding round was led by Softbank Vision Fund 2, followed by CICC Alpha and Prosperity7 Ventures (the diversified growth fund of Aramco Ventures).

The partnership will offer customers a fully automated culinary experience, equipped with an authentic, custom pizza recipe designed for Piestro’s cooking technology.

The company also announced successful pilots and deployments with customers in the hospitality, entertainment, theme park, and restaurant industries, as well as a cost-effective robotics-as-a-service (RaaS) pricing structure.

 

ABB ASTI Mobile400x275ABB has announced it will acquire ASTI Mobile Robotics Group, a global provider of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). The acquisition will expand ABB’s robotics and automation offerings, giving it a complete portfolio for the next generation of flexible automation, the company said in a statement. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, but the deal is expected to close in mid-summer 2021.

 

SoftRoboticsChicken400x275Soft Robotics, which develops AI-powered automated picking solutions through modular soft robotic gripping technology, has announced raising $10 million in a Series B extension funding round. The new funding will help expand its commercial operations to meet COVID-19 pandemic-fueled demand, as well as go to the launch of its SoftAI-powered robotic solutions.

 

Botrista 400x275Botrista Technology, a startup that has developed the Botrista DrinkBot, has announced raising $10 million in Series A funding, co-led by Purestone Capital and La Kaffa International. The new funding brings the total amount raised to $16 million, with the new funding to be used to further accelerate deployment operations to roll out the DrinkBot nationally.
